These are recipes using some of the wonderful products available form
the shop.
We hope you enjoy them.
Dutch Almond Cake
INGREDIENTS
200g butter
300g sugar
3 eggs
250g self rising flour
70g ground almonds
2 tsp almond essence
Preheat the oven to 180Celsius (350F).
Cream the butter and 200g of sugar. Add two beaten eggs and mix well.
Add the flour and mix again.
In another bowl make the filling.
Mix together the ground almonds, 100 g of sugar, one beaten egg and
the almond essence.
Spread half the cake mixture into a 20cm round (or square) cake tin.
Spread the filling on top of this and then spread the remaining cake
mixture on top.
Bake for about 50 minutes, or until cake is loose in the tin. The
top of the cake should be golden, NOT brown.
Apple Fritters
Take apples (any kind will do, although they shouldn't be too sour),
peel them
and cut them in slices of about 1 cm. Put some sugar, cinnamon and
lemon juice
on them. Put them aside for about an hour.
After an hour: take 2 cups of flour (the ordinary white) and a bottle
of
beer (lager). SLOWLY add the beer to the flower and stir, until you
have
a mixture that is so thin that a thin layer sticks to a wooden spoon.
Heat oil. Take the apple slices. Dip them in the flower/beer mixture
and then
put them in the hot oil. Bake until golden brown. The oil so be so
hot that
the appelflappen are brown in about 2 minutes.
Let the appelflappen cool down, cover them with powered sugar and
eat them
while they are still somewhat warm.
The receipe also works with pineapple, bananas and mushrooms (use
sauce
bearnaise instead of sugar!). I never use fixed quantities for anything,
so
you have to experiment a bit with the beer/flower ratio, oil-temperature,
sugar, spices etc
These recipes feature the Inproba range, used in these Indonesian
dishes.
NASI
Needed:
1 Packet 50g INPROBA Boemboe Nasi Goreng
250g pork mince
350g uncooked rice
4 Tbsp oil
4 Tbsp INPROBA Ketjap Manis
Water and/or chicken stock.
Gently fry the pork mince in the oil until it is cooked and crumbly.
Add INPROBA Boemboe Nasi Goreng.
Add the uncooked rice and stir well.
Add water and/or chicken stock until the rice is covered by 2cm (a
little under 1 inch).
Bring quickly to the boil and turn heat down, cover pan and simmer
without stirring for about 30 min. until rice is cooked and dry.
Just before serving stir in with a fork 4 Tbsp of INPROBA Ketjap
Manis. NASI INPROBA is a lovely main dish for an Indonesian meal.
NASI GORENG (for four people)
Cook 500g of rice.
Allow the contents of a sachet of INPROBA Nasi vegetables to draw
for 10 minutes in 200 ml of boiling water.
Fry in butter or oil, 300g of cubed pork or chicken.
Add the Nasi vegetables and fry for a while.
Mix these ingredients into the boiled rice.
Decorate the dish with slices of ham and fried eggs.
BAMI GORENG (for four people)
Cook 250g of INPROBA Mie according to the directions on the packet.
Allow the contents of a sachet of INPROBA Mie vegetables to draw
for 10 minutes in 200 ml of boiling water.
Fry 300g of meat cubes in plenty of butter or oil.
Add the drawn Bami vegetables and fry for a short time.
Mix this with the cooked Mie and fry thoroughly and stir well.
Add INPROBA Ketjap and Sambal according to taste.
Decorate this dish with slices of ham and fried eggs.
